The fibres used in fabrics made from GOTS certified organic cotton are softer and safer for your baby. They flow one way stopping the ends from itching your little one. Plus they are free from toxic dyes and chemicals often found in non-organic baby clothes.
is Thin
Your baby's skin is 3-5 times thinner and more permeable than an adults which means that substances can travel through the layers into their bodies.
is Absorbent
Your baby's skin is highly absorbent so it's critical to use fragrance-free, hypo-allergenic products and GOTS certified organic clothes. Avoid perfumes and dyes, which can seriously irritate newborn skin. Extra-fragile preemie skin warrants special attention so make sure the clothes close to their skin is free from polyester, nylon, viscose, rayon, acrylic and ordinary cotton.
Regulates Temperature
A baby does can not dress themselves or cool themselves down so their skin is a great way to do this. Clothes made from non-organic fibres contain plastic and suffocate the skin stopping it's ability to breathe and stay moisturised.
Why Sustainable Slow Fashion for Babies?
It's better for the environment
Buying and throwing away clothes is causing huge problems for the waste industry. Toxic run offs from dying our clothes with chemicals damage life within it's community. Marine life and the food chain are affected by plastic microfibres that end up in the ocean.
It changes with your baby.
Because babies grow so fast, you'll find it hard to keep up with their changing size requirements. Sustainable slow fashion for babies helps your stay organised and decluttered.
It's toxic free
So many harmful substances are used in the production of non-organic cotton cothes. Polyester, acrylic, nylon/viscose, rayon or ordinary cotton clothing contain pesticides and chemicals to treat the fabrics found in non-organic cotton clothes.
It saves money
Parent's spend around $2000 per year on their baby's new clothes so consciously purchasing items that are long lasting, durable and able to be reused are a favourable option.
